The Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The British University in Dubai (BUiD) to develop Emirati talent in social professions and build a stronger, more regulated social services sector in line with the Dubai Social Agenda 2033.
The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for qualifying and licensing social professionals under unified standards, with the goal of raising workforce efficiency and improving the quality of social protection and care across Dubai.
BUiD brings strong academic credentials to the partnership. The university ranks first in Dubai and fourth in the UAE in the field of education, positioning it as a natural partner for driving professional development in the sector.
CDA Director General Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid said the partnership is aimed at building clear career pathways for social sector professionals and creating an integrated model that links qualification, employment and professional sustainability.
BUiD Vice Chancellor Professor Abdullah Alshamsi welcomed the agreement, highlighting the importance of bridging academic institutions and government bodies to produce qualified national cadres. He added that the university looks forward to expanding collaboration into training, research and capacity building initiatives.
Under the MoU, both parties will jointly design and deliver specialised academic and professional training programmes for practitioners and those seeking licensure. The collaboration also covers professional assessments, postgraduate programmes, social research and policy-focused studies, as well as conferences and community initiatives.
CDA employees will benefit from continuous education programmes and accredited professional certifications, while university graduates will gain access to internship and employment opportunities in the sector.
The partnership reinforces Dubai's ambition to invest in people, advance sustainable development and strengthen its standing as a global benchmark for social development.
