Emirates Skywards has introduced a new way for members to redeem their Miles, unveiling Skywards Rail, a platform granting access to more than 12,000 rail destinations across Europe.
The launch allows Emirates Skywards members to book train tickets across more than 40 major rail operators spanning 12 European countries. It marks a significant expansion of the loyalty programme beyond its traditional focus on flights and hotel stays, giving frequent travellers a fresh avenue to put their accumulated Miles to use.
Through the new platform, members can search a wide range of train schedules, compare cabin classes and choose from different ticket types before booking. Payment flexibility is a central feature, with members able to cover the full cost using Miles or opt for a Cash plus Miles combination depending on their balance and preference.
The move reflects a broader shift in loyalty programme strategy, as airlines look to offer members more versatile redemption options beyond air travel alone. For business travellers and tourists exploring multiple European cities, the addition of rail bookings could streamline travel planning by consolidating flights and train journeys under a single rewards account.
Dr. Nejib Ben Khedher, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates Skywards, said members have increasingly sought more flexible ways to use their Miles, and that Skywards Rail represents another step in extending the programme beyond air travel.
The addition positions Emirates Skywards among a growing number of global loyalty programmes integrating ground transport options, catering to travellers who combine flying with regional rail journeys once they arrive at their destination.
