flydubai has published its first ever Sustainability Report, setting out a five year roadmap to guide the airline's environmental and social commitments through 2025 and beyond.
Titled "Fly Forward 2025," the report marks a formal step in the Dubai based carrier's push toward more responsible growth.
The document was developed in line with Global Reporting Initiative standards and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It is built around six pillars covering climate ready operations, environmental stewardship, workforce and community investment, partnerships, safety and compliance, and the use of intelligent aviation technology.
To prepare the report, flydubai carried out a double materiality assessment this year, examining both how its operations affect the environment and society and how sustainability issues could shape the airline's financial performance. The findings shaped a set of key performance indicators meant to track progress over the coming five years.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of flydubai, said leading an airline today means balancing the markets it serves with responsibility to future generations, and that the report reflects that commitment being built into how the carrier is governed.
Chief executive Ghaith Al Ghaith said the report represents an important milestone, noting that the assessment and resulting strategy will help the airline focus resources where they can have the greatest impact.
Looking forward, flydubai is expanding its technology base through a partnership with Amazon Web Services to bring generative AI into flight operations, alongside a deal with Starlink for high speed connectivity across its fleet. The airline's growth plans are also supported by a large narrowbody order book and incoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, positioning it to keep expanding its network from Dubai in the years ahead.
