During the UAE Government Annual Meeting in Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, awarded the UAE AI Award to several innovative projects advancing artificial intelligence across government and public services.
His Highness was joined by senior officials, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, among others. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the UAE’s commitment to pioneering AI adoption in government, aiming to enhance public service and business operations.
The UAE AI Award, introduced last March by the UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain, is designed to inspire federal and local entities to implement advanced AI applications. It fosters a national standard for AI utilization, encouraging projects that envision a future led by innovation and digital advancement.
In the Service Excellence category, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received recognition for its Smart Mission initiative, which provides AI-driven consulate services with minimal human intervention. Initially launched at the UAE Embassy in South Korea, this project is set to expand to five more locations over the next six months.
DP World earned the award in the Operational Efficiency category for its Tanbeeh platform. Created by Emirati talent, this AI-powered system enhances emergency response efficiency, detecting fires within five seconds, enabling site access through facial recognition, and forecasting traffic patterns to avoid congestion. These features support critical operations and boost on-site safety compliance.
The Decision-Making category award went to the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi for its STEAM+ system, which utilizes AI to analyze over 70 billion data matrices. This system enables Abu Dhabi Mobility to predict transportation needs, optimize investments, and forecast demand shifts across the emirate’s transport network.
Additionally, the Advanced Technology Research Council in Abu Dhabi won the Emirati AI Solutions award for its Falcon language model, a significant achievement in AI for the Arab world. Developed by the Technology Innovation Institute, Falcon is a large-scale language model that competes with global tech giants and supports high-performance applications.
The UAE AI Award received over 225 submissions from 76 government bodies and 44 private entities, with 12 projects advancing to the final round. Projects were evaluated based on innovation, ethical AI standards, scalability, and overall impact, underscoring the UAE’s dedication to leading AI-driven transformation in the region.
