Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed a major infrastructure project linking 18 residential areas through 13 kilometres of new road connections, delivering faster journeys and improved accessibility for residents across the emirate.

The project forms part of the authority’s broader strategy to keep pace with Dubai’s rapid urban expansion and population growth. Alongside new road links, the works included traffic enhancements, roadside parking, pedestrian pavements, and upgraded street lighting to improve both safety and convenience.

According to Roads and Transport Authority, the newly paved routes replace previously unpaved roads, significantly improving connectivity and easing vehicle movement in and out of residential communities. The upgrades have reduced travel times in affected areas by up to 40 percent, while also creating a smoother and safer driving experience.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, said the project was delivered in phases to cover key neighbourhoods including Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Jumeirah 1, Al Rashidiya, Mirdif, and Al Mizhar, among others.

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s long-term vision to enhance urban mobility and maintain high standards of road efficiency. It also reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure, improve traffic flow, and support sustainable development across the city.

RTA continues to roll out similar projects aimed at increasing road capacity and ensuring smoother traffic movement, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global benchmark for transport and infrastructure excellence.
