Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has reported a strong start to 2026, with community contributions exceeding AED 5.7 million under its Neighbourhood Mosques initiative, reinforcing the emirate’s focus on social cohesion and quality of life.
The first-quarter results included the installation of new carpets in more than 30 mosques at a cost of over AED 2 million. In parallel, nearly 35 mosques received sponsorship and maintenance support valued at more than AED 3.7 million annually, reflecting growing public trust and engagement in sustaining religious infrastructure.
The initiative covered around 15,500 square metres of high-quality carpeting, improving comfort and safety for worshippers. It also supports operational efficiency and aligns mosque services with sustainable standards, ensuring readiness amid Dubai’s continued urban and population growth.
Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi said the initiative’s expansion highlights strong community awareness and a deep-rooted culture of giving in the UAE. He noted that contributions play a vital role in strengthening mosques as centres of values, reassurance, and social unity.
He added that sustained engagement reflects a broader humanitarian partnership, where collective efforts translate into long-term benefits for future generations while reinforcing social stability.
Mohammed Jassim Al Mansoori said the results demonstrate public confidence in the Department’s programmes. He emphasised that the initiative turns community partnership into tangible improvements, enhancing mosque environments and ensuring high-quality services for visitors.
