The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has registered its 1,000th aircraft, marking a historic milestone for the country's National Aircraft Registry and underscoring the rapid expansion of its civil aviation sector.
The registry now includes 554 aircraft operated by the UAE's national carriers, accounting for more than 55 percent of all registered aircraft. Officials say the figure highlights the central role these carriers play in linking the UAE to global markets.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, described the achievement as a reflection of the sector's sustained growth and the trust placed in the UAE's regulatory framework by airlines, aircraft owners and operators worldwide. He noted that the milestone reinforces the country's long-term vision of building an environment that fosters sustainable growth, innovation and global competitiveness.
Al Suwaidi added that the registry has developed alongside the broader expansion of the UAE's aviation industry, with the GCAA continuing to invest in regulatory frameworks and smart services to match the sector's pace of growth.
Eng. Aqeel Al Zarooni, Assistant Director-General for Aviation Safety Affairs, said the milestone demonstrates the maturity and international credibility of the UAE's aircraft registration system. He explained that the system operates in line with global standards, offering transparent and reliable services for aircraft owners and operators.
Al Zarooni said the GCAA remains focused on advancing its registration services through digital transformation, regulatory improvement and risk-based oversight, ensuring the registry continues to grow while maintaining high safety and compliance standards.
The milestone comes as the GCAA pushes forward with broader reforms, including updated legislation, simplified procedures and expanded digital services, alongside national initiatives such as the Government for Business Programme and the Zero Bureaucracy Programme.
