The UAE General Budget Committee has met to review the draft federal budget for the 2027 to 2029 fiscal years, with artificial intelligence set to play a central role in how the government plans and manages its finances.

The committee held its 15th meeting at Qasr Al Watan, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. He was joined by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

Also present were Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; and Khaled Mohamed Balama Al Tameemi, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, along with representatives of the Presidential Court and the Ministry of Finance.

Discussions centred on the 2027 draft budget, drawing on preliminary expenditure estimates and revenue forecasts. They followed coordination between the Ministry of Finance and federal entities under Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2019 on Public Finance, as amended, and in line with updates to tax legislation. The committee directed that the necessary procedures be completed to prepare the draft budget.

Members also reviewed the federal government's 2026 financial position based on actual spending and revenue to date. Financial indicators point to sustained economic growth despite regional and global developments. The committee considered funding requests for new strategic projects and examined progress on approved capital and development projects completed this year.

The new strategic cycle aims to use AI to improve planning and financial data analysis, simplify procedures and raise fiscal efficiency. It also positions the budget as a tool for future readiness and stronger public services, while supporting sustainable development and quality of life.

The Cabinet previously approved the 2026 federal budget with revenues and expenditures of AED92.4 billion each.
