The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has partnered with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to enhance the National Scholarship Programme, aiming to equip Emirati students with world-class education and clear pathways into high-demand engineering careers.

The collaboration focuses on offering scholarships in mechanical and electrical engineering, along with other specialisations aligned with EGA’s talent needs. Students will study at top global universities, with MoHESR covering tuition, allowances, and academic monitoring, while EGA provides practical training and post-graduation job opportunities.

Both entities will jointly select universities, vet applicants, and ensure academic programmes match UAE labour market needs. The goal is to prepare graduates for immediate entry into critical sectors driving the nation’s economic diversification and growth.

Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary at MoHESR, said the partnership strengthens the link between higher education and employment, helping students transition seamlessly from university to industry.

EGA CEO Abdulnasser bin Kalban highlighted the initiative’s role in building future national leaders in STEM fields, reinforcing the UAE’s shift toward a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.

A joint follow-up mechanism will assess graduate readiness and feed insights into ongoing improvements of the scholarship programme. The initiative is part of MoHESR’s broader strategy to align education with national development priorities and support the UAE’s long-term vision.
