The Digital School, a pioneering initiative under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has launched a wide-ranging digital education partnership with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, aiming to transform the region’s education sector with future-ready tools and methodologies.

The announcement came during an official visit by The Digital School delegation to the Kurdistan Region, where several digital schools were inaugurated, 2,400 teachers graduated from digital training programmes, and a new initiative was launched to train 10,000 more educators in collaboration with Arizona State University.

The collaboration, developed in coordination with the region’s Ministry of Education, includes the full integration of Kurdish language support across The Digital School’s digital learning platforms. Key achievements include digitising the Kurdish national curriculum for grades 1 to 9, translating teacher training courses, and equipping 64 schools with smart technology. So far, over 40,000 students and 2,000 teachers have registered on the platform.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Chairman of The Digital School, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering the next generation with the skills to lead in a digital world. He praised the swift progress and strong support from the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Alan Hama Saeed, Kurdistan’s Minister of Education, said The Digital School’s fully digital model offers an essential step toward preparing Generation Alpha for a tech-driven future.

The visit also featured classroom visits, equipment inspections, and a recognition ceremony for top-performing teachers. Dubai Cares, a key supporter, emphasised the role of digital education in building inclusive, adaptable learning systems for a rapidly changing world.

Launched in 2020, The Digital School aims to deliver high-quality digital and blended learning to underserved communities, refugees, and displaced learners worldwide.
