The 5th International Aviation Management Conference (IAMC), hosted at Emirates Aviation University (EAU), recently concluded with a spotlight on the evolving aviation industry.
The event brought together over 300 industry leaders, researchers, and global experts to share their insights on trends, innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainability in aviation.
Themed "Aviation Trends: Advancements, Regulations, and Sustainability," the conference highlighted the industry's response to increasing challenges and its rapid transformation driven by demand, sustainability, and technology. In his opening address, Professor Dr. Ahmad Al Ali, Vice Chancellor of EAU, emphasized the pivotal role of innovation and collaboration in shaping the future of aviation.
"We aim to showcase aviation’s boldest and most imaginative ideas,"
he said, underscoring the event's importance as a platform for future-focused discussions.
Keynote speakers included Colonel Engineer Marwan Mohammad Singel, Director of the Dubai Civil Aviation Security Centre, and Mohamed Abubaker Farea, ICAO Middle East Regional Director, along with aviation leaders from the Emirates Group, such as Steve Allen, CEO of dnata, and Oliver Grohmann, Executive Vice President of Human Resources.
The conference also addressed pressing topics such as AI applications in aviation, airline operations, air traffic management, and aviation safety. Presentations included a strategic push towards achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030 and the growing influence of climate change on flight routes.
With the aviation industry poised for growth, IATA forecasts revenues to hit US$996 billion in 2024, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and future resilience.
