Dubai Customs has secured three new international accreditations from the Global Innovation Institute (GII) in the United States, reinforcing its standing as a global leader in customs innovation and digital service development.
The accreditations cover three high-impact projects: automation of vehicle clearance certificates, a mega X-ray scanner system, and an attestation service developed in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Two of the projects achieved Level 2 classification, recognising their role in enhancing competitive service value, while the third reached Level 3 — the institute's highest tier — for its strategic contribution to expanding service scope and long-term sustainability.
Atiq Al Mehairi, Executive Director of the Customs Development Division, said the achievement reflects the organisation's ability to translate strategic vision into measurable results. He noted that the accredited projects demonstrate how advanced digital solutions can improve operational efficiency, accelerate procedures and strengthen Dubai's role as a pivotal hub in global supply chains.
Dr. Hussam Juma, Director of the Service Innovation Department, added that the recognition reflects growing international confidence in Dubai Customs' capacity to develop services aligned with the highest global standards. He highlighted the organisation's commitment to investing in talent and building a culture that encourages creativity and innovation.
The latest accreditations build on a significant milestone from 2023, when Dubai Customs became the first government entity in Dubai and the first customs authority globally to receive the Certified Government Organisation — Excellence Level accreditation from the same institute.
Together, these achievements position Dubai Customs as a benchmark for public sector innovation, supporting the broader Dubai Government agenda of delivering proactive, technology-driven services that meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global trade environment.
