The fifth edition of the Middle East Alliance for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Congress (MEAPEN 2026) officially opened on June 4 at the Intercontinental Hotel Festival City in Dubai, drawing more than 500 healthcare professionals from over 15 countries for a two-day scientific gathering focused on advancing clinical nutrition and patient-centered care.

The congress features over 70 speakers across 17 scientific sessions covering a broad spectrum of nutrition-related disciplines, including critical care nutrition, paediatric and neonatal nutrition, oncology, obesity management, diabetes care, and personalised nutrition approaches. A notable focus this year is the growing integration of artificial intelligence and digital health technologies into clinical nutrition practice and decision-making.

Opening the event, Dr. Wafaa Helmi Ayesh, President of the MEAPEN Congress, underscored the significance of this year's theme — Advancing Clinical Nutrition: Bridging Science, Technology, and Patient-Centered Care — describing nutrition therapy as a cornerstone of modern clinical outcomes, quality of life, and sustainable healthcare systems.

Sheikha Shamsa bint Hasher Al Maktoum attended the opening ceremony, highlighting Dubai's established role as a hub for scientific exchange and international medical collaboration before touring the accompanying exhibition.

Organised by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions in conjunction with the Emirates Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society under the Emirates Medical Association, the congress is supported by leading global bodies including ASPEN and ESPEN. Dubai Business Events serves as the Official Destination Partner.

Delegates are eligible to earn 28 CME Credits accredited by the Dubai Health Authority. The congress also hosts over 50 poster presentations showcasing emerging regional and international research in nutrition science.

MEAPEN 2026 concludes on June 5.
