Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has inaugurated a new 500-metre bridge under the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, marking another step in the emirate's push to ease congestion and improve road connectivity.
The single-lane bridge serves outbound traffic from Al Bada' towards 2nd December Street, with onward access to Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mustaqbal Street. With a capacity of 1,200 vehicles per hour, it cuts travel time on that route from eight minutes to two — a 75 percent reduction.
The bridge is the fourth to open under the broader World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, which involves the construction of six bridges spanning a total of 5,000 metres. Earlier phases saw the opening of two bridges in December 2025, serving traffic from 2nd December Street towards Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Majlis Street, and a bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street in February 2026.
The project also includes converting the existing World Trade Centre Roundabout into a signalised at-grade intersection, along with upgrading a signalised junction on 2nd December Street into a free-flow intersection to further improve traffic movement in the surrounding area.
The Trade Centre district holds strategic importance given its proximity to Sheikh Zayed Road, one of Dubai's primary traffic corridors. The new infrastructure is designed to distribute traffic more efficiently across the network and reduce bottlenecks in a zone that sees high volumes of daily commuter and commercial movement.
Two additional bridges — each with two lanes in both directions and a combined length of 2,000 metres — are planned to link Al Mustaqbal Street with 2nd December Street, completing the full scope of the development.
