The UAE and Pakistan have formalised a strategic partnership focused on modernising government operations, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties and advancing administrative reforms.

The agreement was cemented during a visit by a UAE delegation to Islamabad, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the UAE. Sharif praised the UAE’s cutting-edge government practices and expressed intent to adopt similar models to enhance Pakistan’s digital governance, data-driven policymaking, and public sector innovation.

The partnership, outlined in a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to promote mutual learning and institutional development in areas such as good governance, urban planning, human capital, and science and technology.

The MoU was signed by Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning, in the presence of high-level officials from both countries.

UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Al Gergawi hailed the agreement as a continuation of the strong ties established by the late Sheikh Zayed, noting the UAE's commitment to sustainable, constructive cooperation.

Officials from both nations reiterated that this partnership will foster long-term collaboration, institutional capacity-building, and the exchange of best practices to build more agile and effective governments.
