The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has rolled out a new AI powered scholarship platform under EduHub, its unified higher education digital portal, marking a major step in simplifying how students apply for and manage government scholarships.
The platform forms part of EduHub's broader role as a single gateway for Ministry services, covering university registration and admission, scholarship processing, enquiries about institutions abroad, and exemption requests. Its launch reflects the Ministry's push to cut bureaucracy and expand its use of artificial intelligence to improve service delivery.
Rashed Karam Al Kaabi, Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department, said the system is directly linked to several government entities, including the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the National Service and Reserve Authority, and the Ministry of Education. This connectivity has cut the required documents down to just two and removed the need for applicants following the government curriculum to submit personal details or transcripts, since the data is retrieved automatically.
Al Kaabi added that the application process now takes three steps instead of five, with the number of fields to complete dropping from 22 to four. Applications can now be submitted in as little as five minutes.
The platform also uses AI to verify documents and enable fully electronic signing of scholarship agreements, removing the need for in person visits. Applicants receive real time status updates and can message the department directly, reducing duplicate submissions and manual errors.
The upgrade addresses long standing pain points, including difficulty tracking applications by email and lengthy signing procedures. Going forward, the Ministry plans to track completion times, digital processing rates, and customer satisfaction to guide further improvements.
