Dubai Chambers held a series of high-level meetings in Vancouver last week as part of an international delegation visit to key Canadian cities, targeting new trade and investment opportunities between Dubai and British Columbia.
The discussions covered a broad agenda, including pathways for Canadian companies to expand into Dubai, cooperation on innovation and entrepreneurship, and investment attraction across priority sectors.
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, said the visit reflected the organisation's commitment to deepening Dubai's global partnerships.
"By enhancing cooperation with the business community in British Columbia, we aim to unlock new opportunities across vital sectors and contribute to the development of shared investment and trade ties,"
he said.
The delegation met with a range of organisations shaping the province's economic landscape. These included Launch Academy, a Vancouver-based incubator supporting early-stage tech startups; Invest Vancouver, the region's economic development body; the Business Council of British Columbia; the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade; and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
Talks with BCIT explored potential cooperation in skills development, applied research, and knowledge transfer, with a focus on sectors such as technology, engineering, business, and healthcare.
The Vancouver visit forms part of Dubai Chambers' broader "Growth Corridors" initiative, which targets high-potential global markets to expand trade and investment cooperation, foster strategic partnerships, and drive sectoral integration between Dubai's business community and its international counterparts.
British Columbia, home to one of Canada's most active startup ecosystems and a well-established trade infrastructure, represents a significant opportunity for Dubai as it continues to position itself as a gateway for businesses entering regional and global markets.
