Dubai Customs has launched the Centre of Excellence for Customs and Trade Logistics in partnership with University of Dubai, marking a major step in the emirate’s push to strengthen its position as a global trade and supply chain hub.
The new Centre will operate as a research and knowledge platform focused on improving customs systems, trade logistics, and supply chain resilience through innovation, applied research, and international collaboration. The initiative also supports the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy and reinforce its standing among the world’s leading commercial cities.
According to Dubai Customs, the Centre will develop policies, operational procedures, and evidence-based assessments designed to improve efficiency and enhance customer experience across the customs and logistics sector. It will also focus on advancing digitally enabled customs systems aligned with global standards set by the World Customs Organization.
The collaboration will connect Dubai Customs with a network of international academic institutions, including Kühne Logistics University, University of Adelaide, Michigan State University, and Henley Business School. The partnerships are expected to support research into cross-border e-commerce, supply chain security, and sustainable logistics.
Dr. Abdulla Busenad said the Centre reflects Dubai Customs’ commitment to building a more efficient and innovative trade ecosystem while strengthening Dubai’s leadership in global commerce
