The Dubai Press Club launched the third edition of its Arab Podcast Program today, bringing together leading media organisations, podcast creators, and industry experts for a three-week intensive training initiative aimed at strengthening Arab media capabilities.
The programme combines theoretical learning with hands on training, guiding participants through every stage of podcast production, from developing ideas and identifying audiences to production, publishing, and marketing. This year's edition also highlights the growing overlap between audio and video podcasting, reflecting the format's rising popularity across the Arab world and beyond.
Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, said the programme reflects DPC's commitment to supporting the media sector's rapid transformation while reinforcing Dubai's standing as a hub for media innovation. She noted that the global audio content landscape is evolving quickly, driven by shifting audience preferences and rising demand for specialised content, creating opportunities for Arab media to expand their presence through strong, competitive programming.
Wedad Kahoor, Section Head of Media Talent Development at DPC, said the programme runs until the end of July at DPC headquarters. Participants will develop original podcast projects that will be reviewed by a panel of specialists, with three standout projects receiving awards.
The opening day featured a session on how podcasts have shaped public discourse, led by Safia Al Shehhi, Jamal Al Mulla, and Dr Zainab Al Taie, along with a second session on building podcast concepts and brand identity presented by Charbel Issa of Podeo, the Arab world's leading podcast platform.
The programme underscores Dubai's broader push to position itself as a global centre for media excellence, talent development, and creative innovation in the digital content space.
