The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai, in collaboration with the Dubai Community Contributions Establishment (Jood) and Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai), has launched the “Back to School” initiative for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The initiative will provide essential school supplies and tablets to more than 1,000 students from eligible families across Dubai, helping them prepare for the new academic year with the resources needed to support their education.
The programme supports the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which focuses on strengthening family stability, improving quality of life and developing an integrated and sustainable social support ecosystem.
The initiative brings together several government entities and private sector organisations. Support is being provided by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), GDRFA Dubai, Dubai Customs, UAE Food Bank, Emirates Health Services, Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Investments, Apparel Group, Imdaad, Tilal Fashion and Jordan Oral Care.
Maitha Al Shamsi, CEO of the Community Empowerment Sector at CDA, said the programme forms part of a broader empowerment ecosystem rather than providing only temporary assistance. She highlighted its role in supporting family stability and directing resources towards the needs of students.
Marwan Rashid bin Hashem, CEO of Jood, emphasised education’s importance in human development, noting that access to essential school supplies can create a more supportive learning environment and give students greater confidence in their academic journeys.
Awqaf Dubai also highlighted the role of sustainable endowments in responding to community needs and bringing together resources to extend support to eligible groups.
Through cooperation between government, community and private sector partners, the initiative aims to expand the reach and sustainability of social support while helping students begin the 2026–2027 academic year better prepared.
