Emirates is scaling up efforts to make air travel more inclusive, successfully delivering tailored travel rehearsal experiences for families across more than 40 cities worldwide over the past year, helping children and young adults with autism prepare for real journeys with greater confidence.

The initiative, known as Emirates Travel Rehearsals, allows participants to simulate the airport journey, from check-in to boarding, in a controlled and supportive environment. Designed to reduce anxiety and build familiarity, the programme has already benefited over 250 families globally.

Following strong feedback from early sessions in Dubai, the airline formalised the concept into a structured global programme through its Office of Accessibility and Inclusion. Since April 2025, rehearsals have been conducted across major international hubs spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and North America.

Emirates’ Airport Services teams have led the rollout, working closely with airport authorities and local partners to ensure each session is carefully managed and supportive. The airline has also invested heavily in staff training, with more than 35,000 employees now equipped to assist passengers with autism and facilitate these rehearsals.

Sami Aqil Abdullah, Senior Vice President of Emirates Airport Services Outstation and Business Support, described the programme as a “resounding success,” highlighting strong collaboration between Emirates teams, partners, and families.

Emirates plans to further expand the initiative, bringing the rehearsals to more destinations and continuing its push to make flying a more accessible and confident experience for all travellers.
