The Higher Colleges of Technology has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding with Siemens to drive sustainability, digital transformation and applied innovation across the UAE's higher education sector.
The partnership supports the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative and the Green Agenda 2030 through a programme covering smart campus transformation, green skills development and industry-led research.
Under the agreement, HCT and Siemens will work together on decarbonisation and digitalisation efforts aimed at improving institutional sustainability and operational performance. The collaboration will also strengthen HCT's data-driven governance and policy framework as it works toward its Net Zero targets.
Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Vice President of Shared Services at HCT, said the partnership would help turn HCT campuses into smarter, more resilient environments while reinforcing the institution's Net Zero commitments.
Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE, said the deal pairs Siemens' expertise in smart infrastructure and decarbonisation with HCT's applied learning approach to build future talent for the UAE's low-carbon economy.
A key part of the initiative is a Smart Campus Framework built on Siemens' Building X platform, which will modernise energy, water and waste systems, create unified real-time data environments and support clean mobility solutions including EV infrastructure and renewable energy planning.
The programme will also deliver technical training, faculty development and industry workshops, alongside joint short courses, green skills certifications and annual apprenticeships for students and professionals.
HCT will lead joint projects with Siemens spanning advanced manufacturing, smart infrastructure, mobility and energy technologies, with shared access to laboratories, digital testbeds and co-authored research outputs.
