The Ministry of Investment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Jereh Group to develop an integrated clean energy and industrial platform in the United Arab Emirates, strengthening advanced manufacturing capacity and deepening economic cooperation with the People's Republic of China.

The agreement was signed by Mohammad Abdrulrahman Alhawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Investment, and Li Weibin, Executive President of Jereh Group.

The planned platform brings together three core components. It includes the deployment of small modular reactor technology to deliver stable zero carbon baseload power, the establishment of an anode material manufacturing facility with a capacity target of 100,000 tonnes per annum, and the development of lithium battery recycling capabilities.

The infrastructure will operate as an integrated system, with SMR generated power intended to directly supply the manufacturing facility. The rollout is expected to be phased over three to five years.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s long term energy and industrial diversification goals, including its Energy Strategy 2050, while supporting the expansion of advanced manufacturing and domestic industrial capability.

Officials said the project further positions the UAE as an early adopter of advanced energy applications and reinforces its appeal as a destination for large scale industrial investment.

Alhawi said the partnership reflects the deepening UAE China economic relationship, noting that China remains the UAE’s largest trading partner and a key source of foreign direct investment. He added that bilateral trade surpassed US$100 billion in 2024.

Li Weibin said the agreement marks a pivotal step in Jereh Group’s global expansion and highlighted the UAE’s role as a hub for innovation, trade, and investment.

By July 2025, nearly 16,500 Chinese trade licenses were active in the UAE, reflecting more than 18 percent year on year growth.
