The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Schneider Electric to advance AI-powered solutions across indoor air quality monitoring, smart agriculture, and broader climate action.
The signing took place at MOCCAE headquarters in Dubai, with Under-Secretary Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi in attendance. Dr. Alanoud Abdulla Alhaj, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for the Green Development and Climate Change Sector, signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Amel Messaoudene Chadli, President of Schneider Electric's Gulf Cluster, represented the company.
Under the agreement, the two parties will develop and deploy advanced sensor technologies to monitor indoor air quality in real time. The initiative supports the UAE's National Air Quality Agenda 2031, which identifies indoor environments as a critical focus given that people spend the majority of their time indoors. The data collected is expected to directly inform national health and environmental policies.
The MoU also includes a proof-of-concept for smart agriculture, drawing on Schneider Electric's digital farming solutions to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in food production, contributing to the country's food security objectives.
Dr. Alhaj said the partnership marks a critical step toward a healthier and more sustainable UAE, with AI playing a central role in both monitoring air quality and developing sustainable farming solutions. Chadli described the agreement as a milestone that demonstrates the power of combining government vision with private-sector innovation.
The MoU takes effect immediately from the date of signing and remains valid for 12 months, with provisions for annual renewal by mutual consent.
