The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has launched the Master in Innovation Management and AI Governance (MIMAIG), a first-of-its-kind postgraduate programme designed to prepare government leaders for the growing demands of digital transformation and AI-driven public administration.
Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, said the programme addresses a critical need for agile, qualified leadership capable of handling the unprecedented changes artificial intelligence is bringing to the public sector. He noted that MIMAIG directly supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and the country's goal of transitioning 50 percent of government sectors and operations to agentic AI.
Prof. Yousif El-Ghalayini, Acting Dean of Academic Affairs at MBRSG, stressed that technological adoption alone is not enough, calling reskilling and upskilling an urgent global priority.
Programme Head Prof. Melodena Stephens described MIMAIG as unprecedented in scope, built to equip leaders navigating breakthroughs that are reshaping public administration and policymaking worldwide.
The programme integrates innovation management, AI governance, public policy and strategic leadership through a "quintuple helix" model that blends theoretical learning, experiential education and personal development. Valued at 180 credits, it includes 120 credits of taught modules and a 60-credit dissertation, with a flexible structure allowing full-time completion in 18 months or part-time over two years.
Students will also participate in international field visits to technology hubs, embassies and global organisations, gaining direct exposure to governance practices and innovation models from around the world.
The launch event featured faculty-led sessions and an alumni panel titled "The Future-Ready Government, Why Governments Need Innovation Leaders Now," bringing together professionals from EDGE, Dubai Health Authority and beyond to discuss innovation's role in shaping government readiness.
