The UAE emerged as a leader in various global competitiveness indicators in civil aviation.

According to the recently launched World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024, the country ranked 1st worldwide in the "Quality of Air Transport Infrastructure" indicator, and 3rd globally in both the "Efficiency of Air Transport Services" and "Available Airline Seat Kilometres - millions/week" indicators.

UAE ranks 1st globally for Air Transport Infrastructure Quality in WEF's Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024.

In the Middle East and North Africa, the UAE leads in the "Number of Operating Airlines" and "Air Transport Agreements" indicators.

Moreover, the UAE achieved the global top ranking in the "Quality of Air Transport" category in the "Global Competitiveness Report 2023" released by the International Institute for Management Development.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), highlighted the impressive performance of the civil aviation sector, attributing it to the UAE's visionary leadership and strategic directives. He emphasized the sector's vital role in the national economy and credited the success to continuous investment and government plans. He acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders and expressed the commitment to embracing emerging technologies to enhance air transport infrastructure and services, aiming to set new industry standards globally.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of GCAA, expressed pride in the UAE's civil aviation sector's recent achievement, showcasing its strength and competitiveness. This accomplishment reflects collaborative efforts between GCAA, government entities, national carriers, and industry stakeholders. Their focus on enhancing air transport infrastructure, services, international partnerships, and market connections has elevated the UAE's status as a pivotal hub for travel and tourism globally. Al Suwaidi underscored GCAA's dedication to ongoing improvement and technological advancement to sustain and further elevate the sector's prominent position in the future.
