The UAE is set to roll out 14-day tourism itineraries under a new initiative called “UAE Grand Tours,” designed to encourage visitors to explore all seven emirates in one trip and boost the country’s growing tourism sector.
The project, discussed during a recent meeting of the Emirates Tourism Council chaired by Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, aims to extend visitor stays and highlight the UAE’s cultural, family-friendly, environmental, and adventure tourism offerings. A dedicated digital platform showcasing curated tour packages is also in development.
Coordinated with local tourism bodies and tour operators, the UAE Grand Tours project will promote the country’s tourism diversity through year-round marketing campaigns, particularly targeting international audiences.
Al Marri emphasized the UAE’s commitment to building a sustainable and competitive tourism ecosystem through strategic partnerships and innovation.
“We are keen to develop the national tourism system through strategic initiatives and innovative projects,”
he said.
While the project’s initial phase focuses on domestic itineraries, discussions are also underway at the GCC level for a regional “GCC Grand Tours Visa.” This visa would allow foreign tourists to travel across Gulf countries with a single permit, similar to Europe’s Schengen visa. It remains unclear if the UAE will introduce a special visa tied to the Grand Tours offering.
Tourism remains a vital pillar of the UAE economy. In 2024, the sector saw strong performance, with hotel revenues rising by 3%, occupancy rates reaching 78%, and a 9.5% increase in hotel guests. Sixteen new hotels were added to the hospitality landscape last year, reinforcing the country’s appeal as a global destination.
