Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has been recognised with two major accolades at the 2024 GovMedia Conference in Singapore, highlighting its role in shaping the city's global cultural footprint and strengthening creative industry partnerships.
The Authority earned the ‘UAE Public Sector Initiative of the Year Award’ for hosting the World Cities Culture Summit 2024 and the ‘UAE Public-Private Partnership of the Year Award’ for its collaboration with Google on digitising Dubai’s cultural heritage and supporting creatives.
Held for the first time in the MENA region, the World Cities Culture Summit in Dubai gathered 141 delegates from 36 cities—marking the largest edition in the summit’s history. It focused on how the next generation will shape culture and featured initiatives like the Night-Time Economy Policy Accelerator and the release of a global report on education in the creative economy.
As part of its five-year partnership with Google, Dubai Culture launched the second phase of the ‘Dubai’s Culture and Heritage’ project on the Google Arts & Culture platform, featuring over 130 curated stories and more than 1,200 images. The collaboration also included the MENA Creatives Bootcamp, aimed at equipping emerging artists with digital and AI tools.
Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, noted the recognition reflects the Authority’s commitment to advancing the creative economy and empowering cultural talent in the region.
The GovMedia Conference and Awards honours standout government initiatives across Asia that contribute to public well-being and sustainable development.
