Dubai has unveiled its Digital Twin Platform, a virtual replica of the emirate designed to reshape urban planning and cement the city's status as a global leader in smart, sustainable development.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attended the launch alongside Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The event took place during a workshop hosted by Dubai Municipality to explore the platform's role in decision-making and future urban readiness.

Sheikh Hamdan said the project reflects Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of using technology and data to build a city better prepared for the future. He described it as a milestone in strengthening Dubai's position as a top global destination to live, work and invest, while advancing goals under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The platform functions as a detailed digital model of Dubai, integrating data on infrastructure, buildings, landmarks and master plans. Its third phase has already produced 3D models of more than 195,000 buildings, alongside over 280,000 infrastructure assets and 330,000 public facilities. The system now includes more than 1,500 geospatial data layers and over 100 applications supporting sectors from rainfall simulation to asset management.

During the workshop, Sheikh Hamdan witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding between Dubai Municipality, Al-Futtaim Group and Huawei to advance the platform's next phase through research and expanded technological collaboration.

Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, called the project a reflection of leadership's vision to improve government services and infrastructure efficiency. Maryam Al Muhairi, CEO of the Buildings Regulation and Permits Agency, said the next phase would focus on deepening partnerships and expanding data use across key sectors.

Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, also attended the launch, underscoring the initiative's significance to Dubai's broader digital economy ambitions.
