Emirates customers have connected to the airline's Starlink Wi-Fi service more than one million times since its launch seven months ago, using over a petabyte of data and calling the inflight internet faster than what they have at home.
The milestone highlights how quickly travelers have embraced the next-generation connectivity, now running on more than 60 Starlink-equipped flights daily. Passengers are using the high-speed service to stream shows, join video calls, browse social media and play online games while flying.
Starlink is currently installed on 33 Boeing 777 aircraft and three Airbus A380s, with new installations happening every week at Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai. The airline aims to expand the service across its fleet as fast as possible.
Emirates has a long history of onboard connectivity innovation, having been among the first commercial carriers to offer internet access on the Airbus A380. Early systems delivered under 1 Mbps of total bandwidth. Starlink-equipped A380s now offer more than 2 Gbps of combined bandwidth, enabling seamless streaming and live calls at 40,000 feet across all cabin classes.
The A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft, uses three Starlink antennas designed specifically for its double-deck layout. The airline plans to eventually integrate Live TV streaming into its ice inflight entertainment system, a feature already available on personal devices.
The rollout is part of Emirates' broader fleet retrofit programme, one of the aviation industry's most extensive. So far, 128 aircraft have received full cabin refurbishments, including Premium Economy introductions, upgraded Business and First Class products, and inflight entertainment systems offering more than 6,500 channels.
Complimentary Wi-Fi remains available to all Emirates customers as the airline continues investing in enhancing the passenger experience.
