The Hero Dubai Desert Classic has secured its GEO Certified sustainability accreditation for the fourth consecutive year, cementing its position as a regional and tour-level leader in responsible event management.
The achievement makes the tournament the first in the Middle East to hold and maintain the accreditation across four straight editions, and the first event within the DP World Tour's Rolex Series to reach this milestone. The announcement was timed to coincide with World Environment Day on 5th June.
The GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf awards the certification following an independent assessment that evaluates all aspects of tournament delivery, from event management and community engagement to long-term environmental and social impact. The process also identifies areas for continued improvement.
Simon Corkill, Executive Tournament Director of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, said retaining the certification for a fourth year reflects the collective commitment of everyone involved in staging the event.
"Sustainability has become an integral part of our planning and decision-making process,"
he said, adding that the focus remains on reducing environmental impact, generating positive social outcomes, and building a lasting legacy for the tournament.
Corkill also acknowledged the role of partners, suppliers, and fans in helping the tournament reach the milestone.
The GEO certification is among the most recognised global standards for sustainability in professional golf, and the Dubai Desert Classic's continued achievement of it signals a broader shift in how major sporting events in the region are approaching environmental responsibility. With four successive accreditations now on record, the tournament has positioned itself as a benchmark for sustainable event delivery across the Middle East and the DP World Tour.
