The United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco have formalised a new bilateral framework aimed at deepening cooperation in human rights, signing a Memorandum of Understanding that sets the stage for structured collaboration between the two nations.
The agreement was signed by Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State representing the UAE's Permanent Committee for Human Rights, and Mohamed El Habib Belkouch, Interministerial Delegate for Human Rights of the Kingdom of Morocco. The UAE Ambassador to Morocco, Al Asri Saeed Al Dhaheri, attended the signing ceremony.
Al Kaabi described the MoU as a reflection of both countries' shared commitment to advancing human rights.
"It provides an important framework for exchanging expertise and best practices, enhancing institutional capacities, and enriching dialogue on human rights issues,"
she said.
The agreement covers capacity-building, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of a human rights culture across institutional levels. It also aims to support both countries' engagement in regional and international human rights forums.
Officials noted that the signing builds on the broader trajectory of UAE-Morocco relations across political, economic, media and cultural spheres, guided by the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Both nations have established records in advancing human rights protections domestically and through multilateral platforms, and the new framework is expected to reinforce those efforts through direct institutional collaboration.
