Dubai’s Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has reviewed the progress of several critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic flow and mobility across the emirate.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) projects are designed to accommodate a growing population and support sustainable urban mobility.

The plans, part of the 2025–2027 development strategy, include 57 initiatives covering 226 km of roads, 115 bridges, and 11 major corridors. Among the most significant upgrades are the Umm Suqeim–Al Qudra Corridor and Hessa Street, which will enhance traffic capacity and reduce travel time for residents. For instance, the Umm Suqeim–Al Qudra Corridor’s capacity will rise from 8,400 to 12,600 vehicles per hour, while Hessa Street’s capacity will double, benefiting over 640,000 people.

Sheikh Hamdan was also briefed on Dubai’s initiative to deploy autonomous taxis, which is set for a 2026 launch, and the Model District Project in Al Barsha 2, designed to create a sustainable, pedestrian-friendly environment. This model aims to offer essential services within a 20-minute walk or cycle, promoting a green, car-free lifestyle.

Additionally, the RTA is using advanced technologies like drones and AI to monitor construction progress and improve efficiency. With an emphasis on sustainability, the city’s growing cycling infrastructure is also being expanded, with 557 km of tracks already in place.

Dubai’s ambitious infrastructure projects reflect the emirate's commitment to enhancing urban mobility while supporting the vision of a future-ready, sustainable city.
