Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed Phase II of its Marine Transport Station Waiting Area Upgrade Project, enhancing five key stations as part of efforts to improve commuter experience and strengthen the emirate’s mobility infrastructure.

The latest phase covered Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Fahidi, Bluewaters, Baniyas, and Al Seef stations. The upgrades form part of Dubai’s broader push to elevate public transport standards while reinforcing its position as a global leader in urban mobility.

Designed with inspiration from Dubai’s maritime heritage, the upgraded waiting areas blend cultural identity with modern functionality. The project focuses on improving passenger comfort, safety, and accessibility, aligning with the emirate’s Quality of Life Strategy.

According to Khalaf Belghuzooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at the Public Transport Agency, station selection was guided by customer satisfaction assessments. Enhancements include air conditioning, expanded seating and waiting spaces, and improved access points tailored for senior citizens and women. Facilities such as free Wi-Fi, public address systems, and real-time passenger information displays have also been introduced.

Safety measures have been reinforced with surveillance systems and fire alarms, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The upgrades also adhere to the Dubai Universal Design Code, providing inclusive access for People of Determination.

Phase II builds on the success of Phase I, completed last year across five Marina-area stations, which recorded high customer satisfaction. The continued rollout reflects RTA’s commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and user-focused transport solutions across Dubai.
