The United Arab Emirates has extended its visa-on-arrival programme to nationals of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa, effective 25 July, opening easier access to the country for millions of eligible travellers.
Under the new policy, passport holders from the six countries qualify for either a 14-day or 60-day visa on arrival, provided they hold a valid residence permit from an approved list of countries including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union member states, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada. Accompanying family members are also covered under the scheme.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the expansion reflects the UAE's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering economic, cultural, and people-to-people connections with the newly included nations.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) added that the move aligns the UAE's visa framework with global best practices in travel and mobility, while reinforcing the country's standing in international competitiveness rankings related to tourism and residency.
On the practical side, the 14-day visa, priced at AED 100, can be extended once during the holder's stay. The 60-day visa costs AED 250, is valid for a single stay, and cannot be extended. Travellers who overstay either visa will be subject to a fine of AED 50 per day.
The initiative forms part of the UAE's broader strategy to position itself as a leading global destination for tourism, business, and investment, while streamlining entry procedures for visitors from partner countries.
