The UAE has rebranded its Ministerial Development Council as the Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Development, signalling a bold institutional shift to embed AI at the core of government decision-making and service delivery.
The move was approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in line with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Council will be chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
The renaming is part of a broader federal transformation plan that targets moving 50% of government work sectors, services and operations to Agentic AI systems within two years — enabling more autonomous execution and faster decision-making across public institutions.

The newly structured Council will oversee federal performance in delivering government policies and national priorities. It will review legislation, strategies and policies submitted by federal entities and provide recommendations to the Cabinet to ensure alignment and accelerated execution.
Beyond governance, the Council will supervise initiatives that expand AI use across federal operations, from service development and process optimisation to improved public spending efficiency. It will also evaluate solutions to enhance service quality across key sectors including healthcare, education, housing, infrastructure, transport, energy and telecommunications.
The restructuring reflects the UAE Government's ambition to build a more agile, efficient and future-ready model powered by advanced technologies, with a sustained focus on improving quality of life for all community members.
