Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's Green Charger Initiative has reached a significant milestone, supplying more than 62,000 megawatt hours of electricity since its launch in 2014, enabling over 310 million kilometres of electric vehicle travel across the emirate.
The initiative, which now counts 23,600 registered users and 2,223 charging stations citywide, reflects Dubai's accelerating shift toward sustainable mobility. DEWA's network spans four charger types, including ultra-fast 150 kW DC units, fast chargers installed primarily at petrol stations, public chargers, and residential wall-box units, offering drivers a broad and accessible charging infrastructure.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said the initiative reflects the authority's commitment to Dubai's vision of becoming a smart and sustainable city, strengthening the link between the energy and mobility sectors.
The Green Charger network is designed to support several of the UAE's most critical clean energy commitments, including the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, and the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative. Together, these frameworks are driving the transition to low-carbon transport across the region.
DEWA has developed the infrastructure to meet the highest international standards, encouraging both individuals and institutions to adopt low-emission mobility solutions and reduce the city's overall carbon footprint.
Green Charger stations operate around the clock and can be located through DEWA's website, smart app, and 14 additional digital platforms, making EV charging increasingly convenient for residents and visitors alike.
