Emirates SkyCargo is expanding into Central Asia for the first time, launching dedicated weekly Boeing 777F freighter flights to Almaty International Airport in Kazakhstan starting 16 June 2026.
The new Tuesday service from Dubai marks Almaty as the carrier's first Central Asian destination, opening a direct trade corridor between the region and Emirates SkyCargo's global network. Each flight will carry over 100 tonnes of cargo capacity, handling electronics, perishables, machinery and consumer goods.
Almaty is Kazakhstan's largest city and a fast-growing logistics and commercial hub, positioning it as a key economic gateway for the broader Central Asian region.
Badr Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo's Divisional Senior Vice President, said the expansion aligns with the carrier's role as a global trade facilitator and supports Dubai's D33 Economic Agenda objectives.
"Our flights will provide new opportunities for businesses in Almaty and the surrounding region to scale their international operations while allowing our global customers convenient and rapid wide-body cargo connectivity to a strategic marketplace,"
he added.
The Almaty launch is part of a broader fleet and network expansion strategy at Emirates SkyCargo. The airline has taken delivery of four new Boeing 777 freighters since March 2026, with six more scheduled for the remainder of the year.
The move reflects growing demand for air freight connectivity into Central Asia, a region increasingly seen as an emerging trade frontier. By routing freight through Dubai, Emirates SkyCargo positions the emirate as the logistics bridge between Central Asia and global markets.
