Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority has unveiled Skills for Life, a new initiative designed to help learners across the emirate build practical, personal and social skills for an increasingly fast-changing world.

The launch comes under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

The initiative treats education as a lifelong pursuit rather than something confined to classrooms. It is meant to guide learners from early childhood through adulthood, equipping them with skills needed to thrive in life, learning and work, in step with the goals of the Education 33 Strategy.

Arriving during the Year of the Family, Skills for Life also supports the National Education Charter introduced by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It will roll out during the 2026-27 academic year and is expected to adapt over time as the needs of learners and the workforce evolve.

The programme covers a wide scope of life skills, including healthy living and nutrition, financial literacy, social and relationship skills, mental resilience, digital literacy, sustainability and daily life management. These areas will be woven into existing curricula and learning environments across all stages of education.

KHDA says the initiative responds to a world growing more connected, complex and technology-driven, aiming to give learners the confidence and adaptability to navigate change. It also ties into Dubai's academic and career guidance policies, helping students make informed choices about their educational and professional futures.

Skills for Life will draw on collaboration between schools, educators, parents, employers and the broader community. It also reinforces several Education 33 Game Changer initiatives, including Future Astrolabe, City of Students, Life Camps, Learn Anywhere and Skills for Tomorrow, alongside partnerships aimed at expanding youth leadership and non-formal learning opportunities.
