Emirates is bracing for a surge in demand for its Unaccompanied Minors Service as families across Dubai begin their summer break ahead of the new school year.

Over the next two weeks alone, the airline expects to welcome more than 3,500 children travelling independently under its dedicated care programme.

The spike reflects a broader trend of young travellers relying on Emirates' support services during peak holiday periods. Over the past five years, more than 250,000 children have flown with the airline through its Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passenger services, according to Emirates.

Most of these travellers are aged 11 and under, with the busiest routes linking Dubai to the UK, Russia, Kenya, France, India and Egypt. These corridors reflect the strong family and diaspora ties that shape travel patterns to and from the UAE, particularly during the summer months when many residents head abroad to visit relatives or take extended holidays.

Emirates says its Unaccompanied Minors Service is built to offer full support at every stage of a child's journey, starting from check-in and continuing through to arrival at the final destination. The airline emphasises that young passengers remain under direct supervision throughout, with trained staff ensuring their safety and comfort from departure to landing.

The service has become a key part of Emirates' appeal to families in Dubai, many of whom depend on it to send children to relatives overseas during school breaks. As the summer travel rush intensifies, the airline's ability to manage this seasonal demand highlights its broader strategy of positioning itself as a family-oriented carrier in a highly competitive aviation market.

With thousands of children set to travel in the coming weeks, Emirates' unaccompanied minors programme is likely to face its busiest stretch of the year.
